Ready Set Sleep 50 Ways To Help Your Child Sleep So You Can Sleep Too eBook Malia Jacobson
I can't recommend this book enough! We struggled with getting our child to sleep for over two years. I read books, talked to other parents, and thought we were doing the "right" things. But it wasn't until reading the 50 tips in this book and then taking advantage of the free personalized email sleep consultation with the author, Malia Jacobson, that I really began to actually understand my child's own sleep needs. Everyone is different, and especially with sleep, there really is no one size fits all answer to what works. Malia truly understands this and was very patient with my explaining our whole situation and coming up with a simple plan of action to take. We went from struggling at bed time every night, nursing and nursing and nursing and rocking and rocking and rocking and drinking water and more water and more water before finally passing out from exhaustion to a much more abbreviated bed time routine that is easy! And when we get off track, it is easy for me to see what I need to change, as I'm not just following a set of arbitrary rules, but I understand much more about my child's sleep needs. Don't wait 2 years like I did...if bedtime and sleep aren't going well for you and your family, buy this book today!Product details

Ready Set Sleep 50 Ways To Help Your Child Sleep So You Can Sleep Too eBook Malia Jacobson Reviews
This book was great, it was to the point (not repeating the same ideas over and over like most sleep books) with solid tips/advice and a different way of thinking about children's sleep habits. We especially benefited from the personal follow-up advice from the author (which comes with the purchase). We went from a year of screaming bedtimes (in our arms, on the boob, in our bed, in his crib) to peaceful cuddles and relaxed falling asleep followed by sleeping through the night in a two week period thanks to Malia (the author). I recommend it to all my friends with babies.
Malia Jacobson understands the emotional challenges that keep parents (and kids) trapped in a vicious cycle of overtired wakefulness. In Ready, Set, Sleep, she offers loads of practical advice, without assuming parents will subscribe to any one specific sleep strategy. Ready, Set, Sleep is a wise, useful resource for tired, thoughtful parents who want to help their kids learn to sleep well. You won't learn a sleep-training method in this book. You will get a broader, deeper understanding of the environmental and situational factors that determine how well (or poorly) your child sleeps.
This book helped me figure out what was keeping my daughter from falling asleep at night (too much light, too much noise, and an inconsistent routine) and what to do about mid-night awakenings. The sleep journal was a useful tool for keeping track of when my daughter woke up, what I did, and how long it took to get her back to sleep. It's easy to overestimate how often your child awakes or how long they stay up when you're also exhausted and sleep-deprived. Very quickly I was able to tweak my responses to mid-night awakenings and eliminate them altogether. What a joy to get a good night's sleep again!
I'm Mom I know when my boys are hungry, tired, want to play....or so I thought. Before reading this book I put my boys to bed way to late and they had to much sleep. After doing a sleep log for a week I learned that my youngest had the best moods on days with only 11 hrs. of sleep and my oldest need 12-13 hrs. of sleep per day. Reading this book gave me the confidence to read my boys better and know when they're tired before they're overly tired. Now my boys are 3 & 5 yrs. old and I'm able to do our bedtime routine, kiss them goodnight and they go to sleep by themselves quietly in their room and stay there all night. Thank you Malia for such the great advice
Many of these sleep training books are much longer. This is a quick read that sums up what several other books would tell you.
Nothing has taken a toll like losing sleep and this book had fabulous insights and strategies!
I found $9.99 to be expensive for a 60 page book, but as a desperate mom who hasn't had a full night's sleep in 11 months, I thought it could be worth it. I was disappointed by because I had read all of the information (except for 1 point) in other books or articles on infant sleep. Not worth it for $9.99.
Malia has written the MOST AMAZING sleep guide. It is a quick read (and I am no avid reader), is logical, empathetic, and most of all... SUPER effective! After changing only three things in my 11-month-old's nighttime routine, I was able to get my son to sleep for TEN hours straight! He had previously been waking up every hour to two hours all night, every night. I never realized that the lack of sleep could be caused by my son being overtired and not getting enough sleep. Low and behold... that was the trick! Not only does Malia explain what to do about sleep problems, but she explains WHY to do them, making them make perfect sense. I believe this can work with any age child, and WILL WORK for any mommy or daddy who is sleep deprived, exhausted, and out of options. No need to cry it out, be the mean parent, or deal with exhaustion. This is HANDS DOWN the BEST $10.00 I've spent as a parent! Thanks Malia for an amazing resource!!
