As usual, Luanne Rice created another great story. She pulls you in from the beginning and leaves you wondering how the characters are doing after you read the last page.
I always encourage my students to read anything but textbooks during their quarter breaks. This is one of the books I chose for myself! It was a great "sit by the pool" read and I actually read it in one day. It wasn't 'rocket science' and it kept my interest throughout. Maybe a little predictable at times, but immediately after finishing it, I picked up another Rice book (Beach Girls) and enjoyed another relaxing read. If you're looking for intense drama, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a 'feel good" read, this is what you want!!

She writes about family love and hate and anger and decisions we make that hurt many others. Like a stone dropped on a pond,. But is happy ending.
I enjoyed the book very much. I did wonder how realistic it would be for people to address the issues the way they did.
Even now I want to keep reading. A young woman gives birth. A young couple adopts. Happy story, right? Ms. Rice tells the real truth behind the simple story.
A story so many young women lived in the middle of the 1900’s. A time when a family’s privacy and perceived following of the rules was so important that lives were altered and in many cases ruined because of it. A time when “never air your dirty laundry” was the rule that most families lived by.
